The Pouring Process
The site is cleaned and cleared, which sometimes can require demolition or heavy equipment. A granular sub base is placed and compacted to prepare for new concrete.
Forms are put in place to determine the shape of the concrete. These forms are held in place by stakes and are generally easy to remove once the concrete is dry enough.
Either using a concrete truck or pump, the mixed concrete is poured into the forms. The crew moves it around to ensure there are no air pockets.
The top of the concrete is leveled for a uniform appearance. The surface is screeded and trowels are used to smooth out the concrete.
Depending on the surface you want, the concrete is stamped, troweled, or textured to achieve a unique finish.
Once we are done manipulating the concrete, it can rest and cure, which takes close to a month to completely cure. The first week is the most critical period of time to leave the concrete alone.
